Don't be fooled by the residential appearance, this has a full menu and great food. I often go for vindaloo or marshals with an order of naan.

Recommended. Just know this is a take-out place and you cannot eat there. It is a family run business from their house and the food is delicious. It is certainly top three in the places to eat in the Upper Valley. Vegetable samosa are yums(one order comes with 2 samosas)! I prefer the vegetable samosa to the chicken. I recommend the lamb biryani, so good and all deliciousness. The chicken masala is also a classic. The Mali kofta and Saag Paneer are also good but not my top choice. If it's prime dinner time it might take a while to get your food so plan ahead. I'm hungry thinking about that lamb biryani now.

This is Indian food in the upper valley, and that is rare. For that reason it gets 3 stars. The prices are decent- $2.49 - $4.99 for an appetizer, and $8.99- $9.99 for a main dish. the amount of rice we received was appropriate for the 2 dishes we ordered, so that was a plus. Also the rice was tasty with some spices and cooked perfectly. I had the Paneer Pakoras as an app and they were OK, but not great. There were 4, and the price was $3.99. I don't think I'd order them again. My partner had the chicken samosas and he said they were good. They were a good size and there were 2 in an order. I think the price on those was also $3.99. For a main dish, I had the Paneer Korma ($9.99), and I asked for medium spice. There was no spice in this dish and very little flavor. It's supposed to be cooked with nuts and raisins. I found a few raisins, but no nuts at all, and these essential items add so much to this type of dish. I would not order this again from here. My partner had Chicken Curry. He said it was OK, but far from the best he has ever had. He rated it as passable. Would I go here again? Possibly if we are craving Indian food and unable to get down to Boston because after all, the choices in the area are few and far between. I would, however, try different dishes as these were just OK.

The food was really good. Everything was hot and fresh. The lamb in my curry was very Tender . Everything tasted amazing. My only complaint is I ordered medium spicy and it was not spicy at all. Will try it spicy next time and see how it goes.

Considering the other reviews, not sure if this was a one-off experience but I recently tried their take out for the first time and the food was tasteless. I ordered breads, a dal makhni and paneer masala. The dal makhni is supposed to be made of black lentils but this one didn't had those and didn't had any salt either. The paneer masala's tomato gravy was a lot tangier than it should be and as it turned out the only palatable item was the bread.

Excellent!!! The chicken tikka masala, the saag paneer and the garlic naan we're all delicious. Plus, the price is right. Will definitely be returning.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Hours say you are open until 8pm and you refuse to take an order at 7:05 pm because you are "done for the night?" Hire another person. The Upper Valley doesn't have *that* many people wanting Indian food.

Pretty darn good Indian food for a fair price. People are always friendly and seem appreciative of customers. I've never had to wait long for the food. What more can you ask for? If you want something better do us all a favor and move back to the city.

We found this place while visiting the area. I didn't read the reviews only saw the rating and went. We had no idea what it would look like. When we pulled in and it was a house with a door we both said well hole in the wall places are usually the best. We were not disappointed very very tasty!

hands down some of the best Indian food I've ever had. their samosas and chutneys are literally mouth watering and their main dishes are always fresh and delicious. My husband often orders lamb dishes on the spicier side and they're always perfectly seasoned. I order the chicken and veg dishes and have a difficult time choosing the preparation! their Korma is one of my favorites as is their chicken tikka masala. after poor experiences and extraordinarily high prices at the Jewel of India, this authentic takeout place is truly a gem.

I was thankful just to find Indian food in this area, but even more enthused to discover that it is consistently delicious Indian food that reminds me of home! The prices are reasonable for the serving size, I always look forward to leftovers for the next day. The couple of people I've interacted with when picking up my order are always friendly - love finding nice family establishments. Think of Taj E next time you need to get food for a meeting, party, or those days when you just can't be bothered to cook! Current favorites are the Dry Gobhi Manchurian and the Navratan Curry.

What a great little find! First, this is a take out only place - no place to sit. Second, this is someone's home ... or looks like it is ... so don't drive past it, look for the 'Open' sign in the window. I ordered Roti and an entree tonight for dinner and everything was delicious! I ate way more than I usually do because it was just that good. Everything tasted fresh and stayed warm on my drive home ... what more can you ask for?

A great Indian takeout place! My lamb curry was to die for and cooked perfectly. So gonna come back. Yay!

If I could give higher than 5 stars I would! I have never been disappointed by anything I've ordered here. Myself and most of my coworkers order here on a regular basis and no one has ever had anything but great things to say. The garlic naan is my favorite side.

We decided on this place once we got settled in to our hotel room. We were surprised to find no seating available and that we had to go back to the hotel room to eat. Once we got there we realized there were no utensils and we had to pull out our camping gear to eat (thankfully we had it). That said, the food was delicious. We ordered the chicken saag (best dish overall), aloo gobhi and also saag (both great). The only problem was that my husband would have liked to have more potatoes in his aloo saag. We were very pleases with the taste of the food, the quantity offered and the pleasant service we received when ordering.

The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because you do have to go pick it up in a little front desk reception area of their house, and to some people, that may make them uncomfortable. OTHER THAN THAT THIS PLACE HAS FOOD THAT IS MUCH BETTER IN QUALITY AND FLAVOR than Hanover's indian jewel restaurant. The people are also very friendly and they take credit cards. You wont be disappointed with the portion sizes (they're huge) and the food!

This is the only place in west leb/hanover/WRJ that is consistently delicious! Everything on their menu is good and I always have leftovers! Try their dried ghobi manchurian (indo-chinese dish)! It's my favorite thing on the menu!

Mango lassi is the best!!!! Hated those indian style chinese food. ew~ I would give one star olny, but the mango lassi saved the rating. 4 stars for the mango lassi . must try! This place is take out only.

Yes! There are TWO options for Indian food in the Upper Valley! I actually think Taj E was as good, if not better, than Jewel of India. We got a couple curry dishes with naan and samosas and it was about four meals worth of food - for a very reasonable 30 bucks. Definitely a good option when you don't feel like cooking and are tired of the usual bistro food options around here. Make sure you go around to what might seem like the back side of the house-like building and ring on the correct door.

As the other yelpers have mentioned, this looks like it is in a persons house. It's really easy to drive by and think they're not open. They are! They have a handwritten sign on his Taj E India sign that says "open now" easy to miss. They are only open until 8. The guy who takes your order is super nice. Take out only. There is a place to sit while you wait, food comes out fast and you know it's fresh (you can hear them making it inside!) He even takes credit cards. We stay in Quechee, and this is totally worth the 20 minute drive. I would drive even farther for this food actually. I haven't had this quality of indian style food since actually visiting India! That's really good! Highly recommend the Szechuan fried rice, chana masala and the poori. Must get the poori. This will be our new place to stop and pick up food whenever we're in the area. Unbelievable quality and taste. Definitely recommend.

Food was pretty good for the price. Not bad if you order to pickup. This one of the Two Indian food places in upper valley

Second time going here, and not as good as I remembered. Re: the lamb dish we got (lamb vindaloo), the chunks of lamb were pretty tough. The chicken (chicken curry) was also a bit on the tough side. The food was flavorful. Got the dry gobi manchurian b/c of the reviews on here - guess its not my cup of tea, just ok, not what I was expecting, but not bad. Just meh. All in all, an okay meal, don't know if we'll go for the third time charm.

Very good dishes with generous portions. Affordable price, just slightly cheaper than Jewel of India in Hanover. Speed of service varies depending on the day. Parking is difficult though, but at least this place is take-out only, so you can easily hop in and out. Food is almost as flavorful as Jewel of India, but overall tasty and authentic. Not a great location though. I think they would do a lot better if their restaurant (or rather, take-out house) was more visible with better parking. A great option to get your curry fix!

The only thing that keeps this from getting 5 stars is that while waiting it feels like you're sitting in someone's dusty living room. Mostly because you are. Food is great though.

I now have a favorite Indian restaurant in town. Good food, friendly service, cheaper than Jewel of India. It's take out only. While jewel has better naan, I'll still try to go here when I get a chance. Also, generous portions and Dartmouth discount. Good online menu.

great lamb, delicious chutneys, fair price. Only one thing, if you do take-out you need SILVERWARE AND NAPKINS!

This place is awesome. My boyfriend and I go here frequently and consistently get great Indian food. Sure, it's just take out, but it's fast and delicious. Their chicken is incredible, very moist and tender. I always get two meals out of my order, making it a great value.
